Due to the fact that it is St. Patrick's Day, keep a look out for some shamrocks! The Google Doodle for today embraces Irish culture while also honouring the greenest day of the year. Ireland made St. Patrick's Day a national holiday on this day in 1903.

St Patrick’s Day 2023

Every year on March 17, St. Patrick's Day is held to remember the saint who served as Ireland's patron, St. Patrick. With parades, music, dancing, and the wearing of green clothing, it is celebrated as a public holiday in Ireland, Northern Ireland, and other nations throughout the world, such as the United States, Canada, and Australia.

“To me to be the Grand Marshal today as a foreigner, it is such a huge, huge honour. I’m so humbled."

The most cherished day is thought to be this year, 2023. The largest St. Patrick's Day parade in the state is reportedly held in Manchester, New Hampshire. The distance it covers is 2.5 miles. A tiny group of volunteers are in charge of planning the procession, which will take place on March 26, 2023, on a Sunday.

The History of St Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick's Day: The first St. Patrick's Day was observed in 1600 in what is now St. Augustine, Florida, a former Spanish territory.

The St. Patrick's Day holiday honors the memory of Saint Patrick, who was born in Britain before being abducted and sold into slavery in the Emerald Isle. Even though he ultimately managed to flee, he went back and spread Christianity over the island. The saint spent almost six years in jail in Ireland, according to an article in USA Today.

According to Anthony Hicks ( a Welsh musicologist, music critic, editor, and writer), the celebration is our green heritage. It is all about Irish and Irish descent

St Patrick’s Day Quote

“St. Patrick’s Day is a day to celebrate our green heritage. The ancestry of Ireland. It is a day to celebrate what it means to be Irish and of Irish descent.”

Anthony T. Hicks

I bet you're wondering: why green? There are various reasons why St. Patrick's Day is closely linked to the color green. Because of its lush nature, Ireland is known as the "Emerald Isle," and green is thus regarded as the country's national color. The Irish people were taught about the Holy Trinity by St. Patrick using a green shamrock, according to a story by USA Today.
